Minutes of the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee

April 15, 2009

People attending: Angie Wells, Arline Borchers, Ken Yowell, Pam Terrific, Rose Anne Huck, Josh King, Bill Riggins and Cynthia Crawford.

Vice Chair Angie Wells called the meeting to order. 

Arline Borchers moved and it was seconded to approve the March 18 minutes.  Motion passed.

Website development

Photography scheduled

Digital video has been found!  Rose Anne has it to add to the website and to provide to Larry Arrowood.

Fun site – coloring pages?  Add events.

Maps to be replaced

Rose Anne reviewed the list of changes to the web site.

Nearly all pics will be local on the website

Angie volunteered to check catering resources

Rose Anne anticipates the new version will go live mid May

State of Saline County – April 23 in Arrow Rock.  Will have a tourism display

OTRTP meeting yesterday

• Scenic by-ways plan is available for review
• How can we use the MO Life overruns?  500 minimum, request is 1000.
• May 12 meeting, 4 p.m. in Alma

Quilts and Barns
         Next quilt block is Santa Fe Trails that will be near Arrow Rock.
            People are coming forward with some funds
            Project in Aurora MO to preserve historic home district

Josh raised the question of how current residents will know about this site to identify (and appreciate) local resources.  Need to promote on Channel 10, face book, twitter…

Josh also raised the issue of how to involve young and emerging leaders in tourism efforts.
