Minutes of the Chamber of Commerce Tourism Committee

October 21, 2009

Present: Stan Moore, Pam Thomeczek, Ken Yowell, Arline Borchers, Cynthia Crawford

Chair Stan Moore called the meeting to order at 9 a.m.

Ken Yowell moved and it was seconded to approve the minutes of the September meeting. Motion passed.

Pam noted that she works with her firm to get minutes posted on the website ASAP.

We anticipate the Tourism Commission will set a time for the committee to present its proposal.

Brainstorming ideas for promoting applications next year:

• Written process of how to work with this committee
  “Reader’s Digest” version of info needed by this committee
• Sign – will do what you are proposing to do by 12/31
• How to submit information to this committee
• Guideline document via web
• Deadline date published
• Reporting process for those receiving grants
• Seminar for prospective affiliates
• What to do if plans for the grant change in progress
• A grant is a contract
• Past grantees, amount approved, amount spent, what was accomplished (brief)
• Development project information also on the website
• Shared training on philanthropy principles
• Set % for marketing, % for development

There are two affiliates that need to submit specifics for their 2010 applications. 
The November 19 agri-tourism seminar is moving forward. 

Next meeting date November 18 at 9 a.m.

Pam T. moved and Arline seconded that the meeting adjourn at 10 a.m.  Motion passed
